I visited Cusco, Peru for two weeks in 2017. During my trip I volunteered as a nurse and went on so many epic adventures in my spare time. Cusco is an ancient city that is rich in culture and the perfect place for a foodie. I booked most of my tours through the American Inca Trail, although the entire city is full of local tour guide offices. ATI is reputable for their outstanding tours and staff so I decided to travel with this affordable company. Cusco is full of hostels and delicious, affordable restaurants. I found that two weeks in the Cusco region was plenty of time to see what the city has to offer.
RAINBOW MOUNTAIN
If you're in Peru, this trek is a must. Because of global warming, it's just recently that the rainbow colors are visible. You'll get to have breakfast in a local village and spend the day hiking up to an elevation of 17,000ft. This was one of my all time favorite hikes.
PARAGLIDING OVER SACRED VALLEY
This was my first time paragliding and it was nothing short of amazing. The American Inca Trail offers an optimal experience for a great price. The views of the Sacred Valley from up above are breathtaking. You'll also get the chance to shop around at a local alpaca farm and watch the process of wool being dyed.
WHITE WATER RAFTING
This was also my first-time white water rafting. It exceeded my expectations and made me a lover of rafting. For this tour, you get to spend 3 hours rafting on the Urubamba River with class 3/4 rapids. Afterward, there is a one cord zip-line and sauna.
MORAY AND SALT MINES QUAD BIKE
For this trip you get to ride a quad bike through some of the most scenic spots of the region. Once you get to your destination, you'll spend some time at the salt mines. These. are. incredible. I've never seen anything like the views you get here.
